Open tryouts for Denver-area players looking to compete on a competitive travel baseball team. Two convenient metro locations with multiple age groups.
Gameday Baseball holds open tryouts throughout the year for players across the Denver metropolitan area. Whether you're in Denver proper, the south suburbs like Centennial and Highlands Ranch, or the north metro in Arvada and Westminster, our two conveniently located facilities make tryouts accessible for families across the region. We evaluate players at every age level from 9U through 18U, with roster spots available on our Gameday Angels (youth) and Gameday Saints (high school) travel teams.
Our tryout process is designed to be thorough but welcoming. We understand that tryouts can be stressful for young athletes, so we create a supportive environment where players can showcase their abilities without pressure. Every player who attends a tryout receives a fair, objective evaluation from our coaching staff. We assess hitting, fielding, throwing, running, pitching (if applicable), and overall baseball instincts. Even if a player doesn't make a team roster, we provide feedback and development recommendations.
Gameday holds tryouts at both of our Denver metro facilities. Our Parker location (9345 Double Angel Rd.) primarily hosts tryouts for our south metro teams, drawing players from Parker, Castle Rock, Lone Tree, Highlands Ranch, Centennial, and Aurora. Our Arvada location (8270 W. 80th Ave.) serves the north metro, including families from Arvada, Westminster, Wheat Ridge, Golden, Broomfield, and Lakewood.
Primary tryout periods are held in August and September for the upcoming fall and spring seasons. We also offer mid-season evaluations when roster spots become available. All tryout dates, times, and registration links are posted on our tryouts page. We strongly recommend pre-registering online so we can prepare evaluation materials and ensure adequate coaching staff for each session. Walk-ups are accepted when space allows, but pre-registered players receive priority.
Our coaches evaluate players holistically. While raw talent matters, we also value coachability, work ethic, attitude, and team-first mentality. Here's what our evaluation covers:
Hitting: Swing mechanics, bat speed, barrel control, and approach at the plate. We run live batting practice and tee work to assess each player's hitting ability. Fielding: Footwork, glove skills, arm strength, and range. Players field ground balls, fly balls, and make throws from their primary position. Pitching: For players who pitch, we evaluate mechanics, velocity, command, and secondary pitch development. Running: A 60-yard dash measures speed and quickness. Baseball IQ: We look for players who understand situational baseball and make smart decisions on the field.
Parents are welcome to watch tryouts from designated areas. Tryouts typically last 90 minutes to two hours. Players should arrive in full baseball gear (glove, cleats, bat) and be ready to compete. Our coaching staff makes roster decisions within one week of tryouts and contacts families directly with results and next steps.
"The tryout process at Gameday was incredibly professional. They evaluated every kid fairly and even gave our son helpful feedback afterward. He made the team and it's been the best baseball experience he's ever had. We drive from Centennial and it's worth every mile."
